Give to Gain – It Makes Your Heart Feel Better

Dear Friends:

The first International Haldimand Women’s Day, held in 2025 in Dunnville, was born from the
love and vision of six women who wanted to create a day rooted in meaningful connection,
camaraderie, wellness, and community partnerships.

The sold-out event exceeded all expectations. From that one powerful day, new friendships
were formed, support networks grew, and something truly special emerged — the creation of a
new not-for-profit organization, Connect 6, which has since raised funds for
supportive housing for individuals in need of extra care.

Women continued connecting long after the event, forming small groups that met regularly
through shared activities and ongoing communication. These connections strengthened mental
well-being and reminded participants that “no woman has to navigate life alone.”

In late 2025, one of these newly formed friendships would prove just how powerful connection
can be.

During a medical emergency, quick action by one of the newly formed friends a retired nurse in
attendance — including the administration of CPR — helped save a life. With exceptional care
from Haldimand War Memorial Hospital, followed by treatment in Hamilton, this remarkable
woman returned home to Dunnville just over 24 hours later to recover. Today, she continues to
inspire everyone who has come to love her.

“That moment reminded us why connection matters,” said event organizers. “It reinforced how
community, compassion, and being there for one another can truly save lives.”
From one life-changing moment came this year’s theme “Give to Gain – It Makes Your
Heart Feel Better.”
